Riol Mosel, röm. Foundation and a Romanesque tower

In Riol the Romans have already sat down more than 1,900 years ago than the place still called Rigodulum as a settlement.

The name itself points to Celtic origin. In this area, in Römerstrasse between Trier and Mainz, there were already very early numerous villas and farms. Well arrangements, farmhouses and nostalgically developed lanes invite for staying. To St. Martin-Kirche the time-historical epochs give themselves the hand: a Roman foundation, a Romanesque tower, inside rococo removal.
