Trier County

Trier County was evolved from the places Welschbillig, Ehrang and the adjoining country around Trier in 1969/70. Administrative centre is the city of Trier. The county has a dimension of 17.565 hectares. There are about 22.000 inhabitants living in eleven boroughs around Trier.

The landscape's character is affected not only by Trier, which is Germany's oldest town, established by the Romans, but also by non-recurring cultural monuments - e. g. the column of Igel or Ramstein castle - , numerous footsteps of the Romans, wine and sparkling wine made out of Elbling grapes, dreamy villages at the banks of Sauer, the Luxemourgian-German border river, the idyllic, nearly intact remained valley of Kyll, bizarre rock formations, woods and highlands of harsh beauty. And you will find a splendidly developed network of biking and hiking trails to explore the region.
