In the heart of the Mittelmosel, in the forefinger of the so-called Moselle glove, the romantic wine place Lösnich cuddles up idyllic in the loops of river scenery and shoot scenery.
The place Lösnich, on half a way between Bernkastel and Traben-Trarbach, was mentioned 1066 for the first time when the Lösnicher of the murdered Trierer of bishop Kuno taken pity and buried his corpse in her church at that time, the today's cemetery chapel.
In the Middle Ages Lösnich was a kind of small state with own castle and own jurisdiction. Report from this time is the stately residential building of clerk Kesselstatt manorial which was used till recently as a parsonage.
In historical places of interest the place Lösnich beside the Kesselstatt'schen also offers a stately number of old timber-framed buildings and elegant winegrower's houses from the early days and the time of the Jugendstil to office house, that already mentioned Late-Gothic cemetery chapel and a neo-Gothic parish church from the year 1822. Much further in the past reaches the Lösnicher history of the wine. Quite early cloisters and pencils also owned goods in Lösnich, where they„ in less good years a being enough amount of drinkable, worthy altar wine“ generated. The names of these pencils and cloisters file well-spoken report of the fact that Lösnicher wine taken pleasure even then of a good call. Also in immediate nearness to Lösnich found Sucellus is about 700 years older as the written proof of the existence of Lösnich.
Since centuries the place Lösnich is stamped by the wine-growing. Thanks to the untiring application of winegrowers and restaurateurs, hosts, Strauss's landlords and renders the tourism has come, in the meantime and Lösnich develops especially as an Eldorado for cyclists and Wohnmobilisten. Directly on the Moselle shore there is a quiet parking lot with suitable Ver-and Entsorgeeinrichtungen. The cyclists profit from a bicycle shop with service station shortly before the local end Lösnich direction Kindel - and from the fact that most drivers have left the right Moselle side already before the Lösnicher entrance to the town. And thus a miles long paradise which they can enjoy to Wolf without waste gas company begins for the cyclists here directly on a new, on the Moselle along leading route.
From Lösnich the region can be explored comfortably, whether on foot, with the wheel or by the car. Today two bridges to the west and to the east of Lösnich connect both Moselle shores. Lösnich itself was connected earlier with the opposite vineyards belonging to Lösnich about generations only with a ferry.
Today the Lösnicher vineyards cover both sides of the Moselle shore; the excellent Lösnicher Försterlay becomes on the opposite left Moselle side, almost exclusively as a Riesling wine tilled; on the right ones, the local side, Lösnich is surrounded by the position castle mountain. The preferential Rebsorte is here the Müller-Thurgau, but also the Riesling as well as different red vines are grown.
