.... to the historically significant Moselle wine place, situated in the most precipitous vineyards of the Terrassenmosel. The romantic Moselle wine place has a rich historical past. Excavations prove the first settlements already in the 3rd and 4-th millennium (Neolithic Age) before Christ.

Kobern-Gondorf owns with the famous Late-Romanesque Matthias's chapel in the upper castle in which also all year round guidances take place, an architectural masterpiece (built during the 1220-1240 years). Furthermore many old half-timbered houses, and a. the oldest half-timbered house of Germany, document„ Abbey court Saint Marien” (1320/21), the medieval marketplace, the low castle, the family castle of the princes of the Leyen and the castle Liebieg a moved history.
